I purchased travel insurance through them because my husband and I were traveling during hurricane season. We had planned a quick trip to Disney before our cruise, but the airport and parks closed (due to the hurricane). We filed a claim for our nonrefundable tickets (since we were able to adjust most everything).
I submitted all necessary documents-then heard nothing. A month goes by and I get an email saying I need to show additional proof, which I submitted. Again-hear absolutely nothing, then another email requesting the same documents (which I sent again). This happened before Christmas. I finally got an email about 2 weeks ago that my husband’s claim is pending adjustment, but nothing about mine. I have called customer service and have been told that everything is under review and couldn’t be given any more updates.
If you are shopping around for travel insurance, do not pick them!!

For those considering travel insurance, I would recommend exploring other options before choosing Trawick International and their claims processor, SureGo. My experience with their claims process has been unnecessarily prolonged and frustrating.

I filed a claim on October 15, 2024, due to a death in the family that prevented me from traveling. The documentation was submitted in full, and the circumstances were straightforward. However, as of February 25, 2025, I have yet to receive the reimbursement.

Under Texas state law, insurance claims must be acknowledged within 15 days and must be accepted or denied within 15 days. In my case, these deadlines were not met.

A few key issues with the claims process:

Lack of transparency – There is no clear way to escalate concerns beyond customer service. Attempts to speak with a supervisor or claims adjuster have been unsuccessful.
Slow response times – Emails often go unanswered, and updates on the status of the claim are vague.
Delays with no resolution – Despite following up multiple times, I continue to receive generic responses such as "it is in process" without any indication of when a decision will be made.
While I understand that claims processing can take time, this extended delay exceeds reasonable expectations and the requirements set by law. If you are considering travel insurance, it may be worth looking at providers with a more efficient and responsive claims process.

I should believe in all the customer reviews and don't have that feeling that it may be biased since everybody is different. They are absolutely a waste of your time and money. They rejected all my claims, saying "no medical records were received". The doctor's office said they faxed the record to 251-666-1806 twice, and it said successfully received. They kept on transferring you to different departments when you called, like the claim center or customer service. In the end, they cannot give you a refund if you want to back out as well. They are not a legitimate company.
Their Fairhope office doesn't see customers, they transferred to remote. That proves you don't see or get to see anybody who is legitimate. Please be super careful.

I always purchased travel insurance with trawick international and finally the time came when I had to submit a claim. We submitted our claim (TRSR61203, TRSR61198) in December, over 3 months has passed and nothing happened. We got zero communication from the company. There are plenty of other insurance companies out there and I recommend you choose a different company. In case this matter gets resolved I'll update my review.

Trawick is very prompt at selling insurance. In our case, that was the only aspect treated with promptness. Four months after filing a legitimate claim (most of which was nearly instantly refunded by the airline we used), Trawick has failed to do their part after our complying with their understandable requests for documents. After multiple attempts to learn the status of our claim they and their intermediary, Surego, have basically responded with “delay and deflect”. I suspect “deny” can’t be far behind. If you think using this company will give you peace of mind before traveling, you may find that peace will last only until your claim is filed.
The next unfortunate step will be to communicate our grievance with the Oregon Insurance Division. My wife C. Castro, is the claimant, in case any Trawick International representatives want to avoid that interaction. It is indeed unfortunate that people have to use this venue to make legitimate grievances heard. But when a company refuses to fulfill its purpose, short of legal avenues, here we are.

I purchased travel insurance through Trawick last year for a trip to Italy. I filed a claim on 10/4/2024 and got a denial on 2/19/2025 - four months. I am not as upset about the denial as I am with the customer service (lack of) that I received. I called after my trip and asked the agent if I had a good claim and if it was worth filing it. I knew the criteria when I asked so I explained what had happened and was it a valid claim. Agent said yes I should go ahead and file it. Then I waited a good long while and finally called (several times) and got a runaround each time. I called Surego (they process the claims). Didn't matter who I talked to they were very unhelpful and very not able to give me any answers except pat answers that they probably give to everyone. I went through all that because the first person I talked to lead me to believe I had a reason to file a claim. Worst customer service I have every received. That says a lot given the current climate with bad customer service most places. If I were you (traveler) I would go somewhere else.

My experience with Trawick has been awful thus far. Nearing 3 months of time processing a claim for a trip that needed to be canceled at the beginning of December. They have been largely unresponsive. When I call, I am told by the representative on the phone that from their perspective it looks like everything is submitted but they do not know why it has not been finalized. I am simply told to wait. Their website said 15 day to process. The woman over the phone told more like 30. My claim was filed Dec 1st with additional documentation submitted on 12/2 and 12/3. Two and a half months later...nothing. Crickets.

It has been 15 working days and my travel insurance claim TRSR61401 has not been paid. All requested documentation was already submitted. Straight forward medical event. I suffered a serious bacterial infection ending up in ER so we could not take our trip with National Geographic Cruise. Event properly documented by ER and my medical provider. We didn't receive any refund from National Geographic due to the timing we had to cancel our trip.

We sincerely appreciate you pay our claim ASAP. This was a very expensive trip that we sadly had to cancel due to this serious medical emergency. We will keep escalating since it is not aceptable the long wait. Please honour your word.
