Such an amazing place.

I been living in the city of Lawrence for 11 years I always wanted to go in the building but I was always afraid to what was in there or if there was a cost.

Finally I decided to bring my high school player to learn more about the history of Lawrence, ut was the best decision ever, we learned so much about how the city was built and why it was built.

They have many historic items and records.

Just in love with the Lawrence history center.

Unprofessional ...do NOT trust them. They threaten anyone who disagrees with Grabski. They are most arrogant and block and intimidate people who do not share their political viewpoints. Grabski doesn't tolerate anyone who opposes her Leftist ideologies and employs lawyers to threaten anyone who questions them. They seem to be unaware of the First Amendment..i.e. Free Speech. They never mention, for example, the God and Country movement which was an integral part of the 1912 Strike. They concentrate and glorify the strikers and the Communist influence behind the strike,

It's the most amazing place you will ever visit to learn about the history of Lawrence, Massachusetts. They have the olde stuff. The good stuff. The stuff that makes you say, "Hmph, I did not know that..."

In just a single visit, you can become an expert on the history of this remarkable and historic mill city. You will amaze your friends and become the go-to person in your family for everything there is to know about Lawrence.

The Lawrence History Center is a huge archive of the history of Lawrence, Massachusetts and her Immigrant Citizens.

It's located in the 1880s brick office complex of the founding Essex Company. Included in the complex are an office building, a former carpentry shop, stables, a warehouse, and a working forge.

Among the items in the extensive collection are public and company records, public school records, old county jail records, public health records, oversized antique real estate atlases, maps, deeds, thousands of photographs, thousands of oral histories, and a vast ephemera collection. There's also a gift shop of local history books, postal cards and souvenirs.

The experienced on-site staff of historians is ready to assist in research. ( Appointments for a research visit are suggested).
Access to the collection is also available on-line.

This excellent history centre found prison records for one of my wife's ancestors whose whereabouts after 1860 were previously unknown. Now she has a "common drunkard" to liven up her family tree! Thank you for taking the time to research this query from England.
